Teknion Corporation today announced that its new Teknion Studio Collection, Teknion Textiles offering and Details book were honored with 2013 Good Design Awards – The World's Most Prestigious Global Awards for New Product Design and Graphics. The Good Design competition is sponsored annually by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, and The European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies.
"These three Good Design Awards pay tribute to the many talented designers that we are fortunate to work with in developing these award-winning workplace products and marketing tools," said David Feldberg, Teknion President & CEO. "The awards recognize the design excellence of Jeffrey Bernett, Nicholas Dodziuk and Mario Ruiz for Teknion Studio, of Suzanne Tick and her team for Teknion Textiles, and of Michael Vanderbyl and his team at Vanderbyl Design for our Details book."
Teknion Studio
The first Teknion Studio offering of soft seating, tables and related furniture products was previewed during NeoCon in Chicago last June. On display were the Spectrum Lounge Series, Fractals Seating Group and the Keele Chair by designers Jeffrey Bernett and Nicholas Dodziuk of CDS (Consultants for Design Strategy), the Envita Lounge Series by Mario Ruiz, and selections from the B&B Italia Project Collection. The Teknion Studio portfolio was designed for contract, hospitality and residential environments.
Teknion Textiles
Teknion Textiles – part of the recently introduced Teknion Studio initiative – is a new line of textiles that brings a broad range of sophisticated and refined fabrics to the market. Created by New York-based Suzanne Tick for contemporary contract interiors in all market segments, the Teknion Textiles line is comprised of contemporary fabrics at different price points while maintaining a cohesive collection.
Details Book
Details focuses on the beauty of a product through its design details, spotlighting specific detailing of a product that are seemingly small, but make a strong impact to the overall design. Examples include the stitch detail of a chair, the contour of a pull, an exposed table edge, the material beauty of a marble table.
About Good Design
The Good Design competition is organized annually by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. For 2013, the Museum received submissions from several thousand of the world's leading manufacturers and industrial and graphic design firms. In November, the jury met in Chicago and selected over 700 product designs and graphics from over 38 nations worthy of the Good Design Award for their design excellence.
