Teknion Corporation today announced that four of its new workplace products − Zones Modular Seating, Banqs seating collection, Swerv Monitor Arm, and tn Storage & Accessories – have been honored with 2018 Good Design Awards. Zones Modular Seating and Banqs are winners in the Furniture category, while Swerv and tn won in the Office Products category.
Good Design covers new consumer products, graphics and packaging designed and manufactured in Europe, Asia, Africa as well as North and South America. The program is organized annually by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies.

Zones Modular Seating is a lounge collection within the broader Zones furniture offering. It includes fully upholstered straight or curved bench modules, plus accessories. The units combine to create everything from straight runs to open-serpentine planning. The signature open-serpentine planning capability is enhanced by mixing high-, low- or backless units, and varying their direction, height and material finishes. Each unit connects different activities within a single footprint.
Banqs is a seating collection designed to accommodate multi-purpose settings, from focused work to informal meetings and social gatherings. The collection is comprised of sofas, screens, tables and accessories that create linear seating, hubs and booths for use in corporate, educational and public spaces. Banqs’ versatility provides an opportunity to convert existing but under-utilized real estate into multi-use zones, maximizing space optimization.
The need for storage within the workstation has changed over the past decade from paper filing to personal items and casual use. tn Storage & Accessories is a series of universal desktop accessories and freestanding storage items that addresses these new needs for storage and organization in the modern workstation. tn provides a fresh and unique way to solve a common, everyday problem.
Swerv Monitor Arm is a fully adjustable, spring-assisted dynamic arm designed to support today's evolving technology demands and changing workstyles. Swerv features a new patent-pending, weight-balancing mechanism. This innovation enables 98 percent of monitor weights on the market (5 to 12 lbs. or 2.27 to 5.4 kg) to be balanced and adjusted with little effort.
The 2018 Good Design Jury was held in New York and Los Angeles and was composed of renowned international specialists with a breadth of design experience, guaranteeing the high quality and high level of the competition. The criteria for selection follow the original 1950s program and include factors such as the innovation, functional impact or even the ecological impact of each product selected.
